In my greeting card section, I make pet sympathy cards, using my handmade paper. I made a decision to offer it for sale for others to enjoy.
It is A6 sized paper, but measurements do vary slightly circa 2cm on each side. It is a lovely paper for drawing, painting, crafting, or as a gift to an artist.
As the colour obtained depends on the materials I use for making the paper, then the colour will vary. It will contain speckles and flecks from the different papers used.
The paper is handmade, using paper which would otherwise be put in the recycling bin. It is a mix of discarded papers from practice pieces of artwork on watercolour paper, drawing paper, mixed media paper, printer paper, newspaper, egg boxes etc. All of the paper would otherwise be recycled, so this is a great way to repurpose materials.
I use the age old frame and deckle method of papermaking, which is a time consuming process of soaking paper, making it into a pulp and then using a frame to make each individual sheet of paper. Each indvidual sheet is then dried and pressed separately. I make the paper using an A4 frame, and then cut to size, retaining the raw deckled edge.
The paper does vary in colour from light grey, beige, light brown etc, depending on the paper I have available in my recycling pile.
However, each set of 4 sheets of paper will be the same colour.
Please note, that I don't use any chemicals, glues, or additional colouring or sizing when making the paper.
It is lovely to use for scrapbooking, making cards, embelishments, wedding stationery, or invitations, place name cards, gift tags. It's also fantastic for artwork, as it has a lovely texture to it. Please be aware that I haven't added sizing or any chemical fixatives, so the paper may bleed if ink is used, unless fixed first.
The paper will not be smooth, but is textured, can have some slight wrinkles, has flecks from the pulp, which adds to its charm. It also means that each piece is totally unique, and is lovely to look at. It looks like paper from a bygone era, which I adore.
I personally use it for my printer, but I cannot say it is definitely suitable, as you would need to experiment with your own printer settings and printer inks to see if it is what you're looking for.
If using it for calligraphy, lino printing or stamping, then I would also suggest you check it first for bleeding etc.
I use it with waterproof inks, watercolour and acrylic without issue, and it really is a beautiful and unique paper for artwork. Pencil and ballpoint pen are also perfectly ok.
I love creating illustrations from it, as it adds lots of character to the work.
The paper is circa A6 size (postcard sized / 6x4" / 10.5x14.8cm) +/-2cm and has rough edges from the deckle. I have cut it to size leaving a rough edge also.
Please bear in mind this is not shop bought, smooth, perfectly uniform paper. There will be some slight wrinkling, different tones to the paper, and each sheet will be a different thickness. There will also be flecks from the different papers used also. As mentioned each set of 4 sheets will be the same colour.
Postage is free and second class. Your paper will be wrapped with twine and tissue paper, and will arrive in a box, to protect it during transit.
